Most buyers can't get soft, puffed rotis from it; they get thick or papad-like ones. The best-known models sit around 3★ with a third of buyers giving 1★. A tawa and chakla-belan still win.

What the reel shows vs what buyers say

Reel promise
Reality
Soft, round, puffed rotis in seconds
Buyers say rotis come out hard, half-cooked or “papad jaisi”. Several made only one good roti in days of trying.
Just press the dough ball
Dough slips out or flattens too thick. Getting the dough right takes a lot of practice, and many give up.
Safe and long-lasting
Reports of sparks, short circuits and a melting plug, plus handles breaking within weeks.
4.5★ from 6,600+ ratings (Fanttik and Lifewit listings)
When we checked, 0 of 20 recent 4–5★ reviews on each mentioned roti. They describe a screwdriver set and storage bags. Those ratings belong to other products.

2
Rotis come out hard or papad-like27 of 143

Rotis don't puff, stay raw in places or turn crisp. Buyers following the instructions still couldn't get soft rotis.

3
Stops heating, sparks or melts20 of 143

Heating fails within months, and some buyers saw sparks, a tripped fuse or a melting plug.

4
Can't press the dough flat or round18 of 143

The dough slips out or flattens unevenly, so rotis come out thick and small.

Better alternative

Marble chakla-belan set (₹413) + a good iron tawa

The traditional way still gives the softest rotis. The Jaipur Ace marble chakla-belan has 4.2★ from 3,300+ ratings, and an iron tawa like the amicus (4.0★, 2,600+ ratings, ₹577) together cost under ₹1,000, less than half the price of a roti maker.

Questions people ask

Do electric roti makers really work?

For most buyers, not well. The best-known models have around 3★, and 35–40% of their ratings are 1★. The common complaint is hard, papad-like rotis.

Why do some roti makers show 4.5★?

Two listings we checked (Fanttik and Lifewit, ₹2,499) showed reviews of a mini screwdriver set and storage bags, not roti makers. Always read a few recent reviews before trusting a high rating.

Which roti maker is least bad?

Longway Multi Master scores highest of the group at 4.5/10, still below our Skip line. Its critical reviews mention a melting plug and used units.

What's the better option?

A marble chakla-belan and an iron tawa cost under ₹1,000 together and give the soft, puffed rotis buyers wanted from the machine.
